BC SCRAP-IT PROGRAM

The BC Scrap-It Program is a province-wide program that offers incentives for scrap vehicles in an effort to reduce pollution and protect the environment. The program provides financial assistance to help cover the cost of buying a new, more fuel-efficient vehicle when you scrap your old vehicle.

If you're thinking about buying a new car, the BC Scrap-It Program can help make it more affordable. The program offers two types of incentives: a $3,000 incentive for passenger vehicles and a $1,500 incentive for motorcycles when you scrap your old vehicle.

The BC Scrap-It Program is funded by the province of British Columbia and is administered by the New Car Dealers Association of BC.

For more information, visit www.scrapit.ca or contact the New Car Dealers Association of BC at +1 604-214-9964.

How Do I Scrap My Vehicle?

Once you have been approved for the program and have purchased your new vehicle, you will need to scrap your old vehicle. You can do this by taking it to a licensed automotive recycling facility or by having it towed to a scrapyard. For a list of licensed facilities in your area, visit www.scrapit.ca/recyclers.

When you scrap your vehicle, you will need to provide the following documents:

  • A completed and signed Transfer/Disposal Certificate (available from any ICBC office)
  • The vehicle's registration certificate
  • The New Vehicle Purchase Incentive Application Form (if applicable)

What Happens to My Old Vehicle?

Once your vehicle is accepted into the program, it will be towed to a designated scrap facility, where it will be dismantled and recycled. All fluids and materials will be removed from the vehicle environmentally responsible.
